Leap Little Bird

A poem for the moment before the leap

Whatever important decision you’re about to make

Whatever liminal space you’ve occupied

You're standing at the threshold

It's time to take the leap…

The question I have for you is:

Who will you be?

And who or what will you leave?

I wrote a poem about this, called: Leap Little Bird

Hello little bird

Sitting on the tree

Looking at me

Why do you sit there

On the ledge

Teetering?

Don’t you think

It’s about time

To fledge?

Oh, I see

You’re still upset with me

Thinking that I had left

One day you’ll see

I didn’t flee

I had simply leapt.‎

We’re not always understood when we take the leap.

And the world we occupied before is not the same.

We change. And the spaces change.

So where are you on the ledge right now, little bird?

Where are you teetering?

And where are you about to leap into?

Who will you be?

And who or what will you leave?

Can you give yourself permission

Not to flee, but to leap?
